I am trying to create DWG files for Fort Collins parcel maps for a new development. Their requirement is as follows: "The drawing must be saved in model space and drawn scaled to State Plane Coordinate System Colorado North Zone (NAD 1983, U.S. feet)."
I'm not sure what they mean "saved in model space". I can get the dwg files from our civil engineer, but not sure how to save in "model space" for GIS. Can this be done in DataCad? I think I can deal with the scaled coordinate system, unless there is something tricky about it.
Thanks for any help.

Acad's Model Space is where you draw everything at 1:1; their 'Paper Space' is where you set up plotting the sheet/sheets at certain scales. When you save your AEC file to a DWG, it will be opened by Acad in Model Space.

(Long answer):
The best explanation of Model Space and Paper Space in Acad, is that in Paper Space you have a 24x36 sheet (or whatever size you want to print to) that will plot at 1:1 (it's 24x36, and will plot on a 24x36). You create a viewport within Paper Space and zoom in/out to create the scale that those items in Model Space will scale at after you plot it. Basically imagine a sheet with your border on it, and you cut a hold in the paper that you look through at your model. The distance you "hold" your sheet away from the model determines what the zoom factor is (eg. for a 1/4"=1'-0" plan to plot on a 24x36, you would zoom at a scale factor of 48).
