Scaled print

I have a drawing at 1"=10'. When I measure a known distance (50') and then print it out, it scales 45'.
How do I fix it so it scales 50' when I print it?

Make sure you do not have "shrink to fit" checked or toggled on in your print dialogue. It may be worded differently depending on your printer.

I have also had drivers that use the margins to create an effective area which compress the print within the margins.

That was it.
Checked "actual size" and it printed to scale.

Don't feel badly if you missed it. Both of my PCs occasionally reset the printer preferences, so I'm gotten used-to always double-checking the preferences before printing out to paper or to PDF.
